Known as a settlement from Etruscan times the farm at Testa di
Lepre has been in the Pamphilj family since 1649 when it was bought
by Olimpia Maidalchini (sister-in-law of Pope Innocent X and administrator
of the Pamphilj properties). The working farm has two herds of cattle
one producing milk for the local market and one bred on the farm
for meat.
The regional food is amongst the best in Italy and the area abounds
with restaurants and trattorie serving all the local fresh foods
including seafoods from the fishing fleets at Civitavecchia and
Fiumicino. The area has several excellent vinyards.
